Standards
See how your processes cover ISO 9001, clause by clause, and what's still missing before an audit.
ISO management system standards don't prescribe an org chart. They ask for processes that are owned, controlled, measured and improved. Standards in the sidebar shows how your processes cover each standard you work towards, clause by clause, so you know what's missing before an audit.
Steplane helps you get audit-ready. Certificates come from an accredited certification body, never from Steplane.
Choosing your standards
Owners and admins choose the standards in Settings → Standards, for example ISO 9001:2015. Your AI assistant can do it too. Until you choose one, the Standards page has nothing to show.
Reading the page
Each standard shows how many of its clauses a process covers, and then every clause by section, with the processes that cover it:
- Covered: a process is tagged with the clause, or with a finer clause under it (a process tagged with 8.5.2 covers 8.5).
- Only a placeholder so far: only placeholders cover it. Describe them to cover it properly.
- No process covers it yet: a gap. Tag the process that covers it in its editor, or describe a new one.
- Organization-wide: met by the organization as a whole rather than one process, such as the quality policy (5.2) or the scope (4.3). The page says what to show instead.
- Doesn't apply: you said why the clause doesn't apply to you.
Under each clause, Steplane says what it asks for in practice, in its own words. The standard's own text isn't in Steplane: ISO and national bodies such as Dansk Standard sell it.
Only what's missing hides everything that's done.
When a clause doesn't apply
Some clauses don't apply to every company. If you don't design products, for example, ISO 9001 8.3 doesn't apply. Owners and admins choose Doesn't apply to us… on the clause and say why. Your scope has to give the same reason, and auditors check it. The clause then no longer counts as missing. It applies after all undoes it.
Gaps in your inbox
Owners and admins also see them in their inbox, under Standards: one item per standard, which comes back as new when the missing clauses change. Your AI assistant finds them with the gap checks. Ask it, for example: "Which ISO 9001 clauses aren't covered yet, and which of our processes should cover them?"
